The arm of national catering company, Amadeus, responsible for the delivery of standalone event catering, has triumphed at its latest sporting event collaboration.
Events By Amadeus worked with DP World Tour (formerly The European Tour) Genesis, Chef Tom Kitchin (of Michelin-starred The Kitchin and Kitchin Group) and Chef Mun Kim (Mun Restaurant) to deliver a unique and exciting collaborative menu at this year’s Genesis Scottish Open.

Taking a bespoke approach to event catering across the four-day event, and looking after a cross section of the tournament within several different structures, Events By Amadeus brought more than 45 years of expertise and exciting innovations to the Genesis Scottish Open.
The collaboration saw Events by Amadeus working closely with renowned chefs, Chef Tom Kitchin and Chef Mun Kim, deliver breakfast, a Scottish x Korean fusion menu, afternoon tea, bowl food and drinks receptions at Scotland’s most prestigious golfing event of the year. At the four-day event, the team delivered over 2400 covers for VIP hospitality guests, caddies and media and an array of peripheral catering.
Chef Mun and Darren Proud, Amadeus
After the success of the Scottish x Korean collaborative menu in 2022, the two chefs worked on a fresh menu for 2023, bringing together the best of Scottish ingredients and giving them a flavour of Korean. The Events by Amadeus team worked closely with organisers to perfect menus, source ingredients and recreate the dishes, working with the chefs to present and serve food and drinks to guests in the Genesis Lounge.
Events By Amadeus’ menus boast an array of creative catering options for event organisers to ensure memorable food experiences for guests, with options available for every dietary need. Planning was also made simple thanks to a single point of contact in the team, the key catering liaison between the organiser, venue, and suppliers.
The team have worked closely with key events in the golf calendar for over 25 years, providing high-end hospitality to visitors from around the world, serving local produce no matter where they are based. With a focus on sustainability, local sourcing is also a vital part of Amadeus’ ethos with 80% of food and beverage suppliers located within a 30-mile radius of the venue. This ensures that the food crafted by the team of experts is fresh and environmentally friendly with reduced food miles, emissions, and carbon footprint.
Kevin Watson, Managing Director of Amadeus, comments on the collaboration: “Amadeus has a rich history in delivering superior quality catering for the UK’s most prestigious events in the golfing calendar. With an array of catering services required at the Genesis Scottish Open, we knew how vital it is to build on our previous success and create quality and memorable food experiences that mirror the excitement and world-class sport at the Open.
"Serving awards dinners, drinks receptions, afternoon teas, fine-dining, and in this case presenting collaborative menus for over 2400 covers, Events by Amadeus pride ourselves on creating a variety of stimulating dishes to suit every type of event. Thanks to decades of experience catering for events and venues around the country, organisers and renown chefs trust us to bring their vision to life through innovative creations. We look forward to our future collaborations at one of Scotland’s most prestigious golfing events.”
Michelin-starred Chef Tom Kitchin added: “Embarking on our second year at The Genesis Scottish Open was truly exciting. Our venue The Bonnie Badger neighbours the spectacular host, The Renaissance Club, so it always feels really special to be part of such an important event in the golfing calendar in the heart of Scotland’s Golf Coast.
“After a successful inaugural year working with the organisers, the Events by Amadeus team and Chef Mun, we spent time in the kitchens together and have grown to really understand each other’s worlds. It has been a great experience collectively presenting a really special menu to visitors this year that put Scottish produce on the map, while giving it a flavour of Korean cuisine, all delivered by an expert team at Amadeus.”
Genesis Culinary Ambassador, Chef Mun Kim said: “Each year, Chef Tom Kitchin and I dedicate ourselves to offering our honored guests (“son nim” in Korean) extraordinary experiences. I express admiration for Amadeus’ exceptional execution and professionalism in bringing our vision of Korean-Scottish fusion cuisine to life. I anticipate future collaborations with Amadeus as we explore new approaches to infuse Golf Country with a taste of Korea.”
